Accuplacer Placement Assessment, Advising, and Class Scheduling
To ensure your academic success, EMCC uses the Accuplacer placement assessment to gather information about your academic skills in English and mathematics. The results of the assessment, used in conjunction with your academic background, goals, and interests will determine the courses you take during your first semester at EMCC.
Unless noted otherwise on your acceptance newsletter, you must attend a placement assessment, advising and class scheduling session. (If you have transfer credit or appropriate SAT scores, you may be exempt from taking the placement assessment or certain sections of it.) You should be prepared to spend up to three hours to complete this very important activity. Because class schedules are prepared on a first-come, first-served basis, students who complete this activity early will have more choices and better scheduling options.
Based on the results of this assessment, you may be required to successfully complete math and/or English courses that are not part of your program curriculum. As a result, you may be required to extend your program to better prepare for your pro-specific courses. This means that enrollment in your program-specific/technology courses may be delayed by one year. Questions or concerns regarding this policy should be directed to the Admissions Office.

Services for Students with Disabilities
In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the College is committed to helping qualified students with disabilities achieve their individual educational goals.
To receive accommodations for a disability, the student with a documented disability must:
- be admitted to a program of study or be enrolled in a course at EMCC;
- provide the Coordinator of Disability Services with documentation of the disability;
- meet with the Coordinator of Disability Services to request accommodations from instructors.

If you have a documented disability which requires accommodation, you must fill out an Placement Test Accommodation Request Form and mail it to Elizabeth Saucier, Coordinator of Disability Services before the date of your placement assessment and advising session in order for us to make appropriate accommodations.

Schedule your Placement Assessment
On the date of your assessment, report to room 125 Maine Hall at least 15 minutes before your scheduled test time. You must bring a photo ID. Late arrivals may be asked to reschedule. The test proctor will meet with you after you take your placement assessment to discuss what your test scores mean.
