“I had the chance to go to school after I was laid off from Dexter Shoe. I surprised myself by how well I adapted to classroom learning after 20 years out of school. I’ve made the Dean’s List and will graduate in May. I’m proof it can be done!”
Did you know? 86% of full-time, first-time degree seeking students at Eastern Maine Community College receive some sort of financial aid!
The Office of Student Aid attempts to make our college affordable by providing financial assistance and advice to current and prospective students and parents. While students have the primary responsibility for financing their post-secondary education, there are Federal, State and college grants, scholarships, loans, and student employment to assist them. Financial aid is based on the student’s annual completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the availability of funds.
Do not wait for the formal acceptance to EMCC before filing your financial aid application!

Priority FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Filing Deadlines
The Student Aid Office awards student aid on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who meet the FAFSA filing deadlines and complete their financial aid files first are the first to receive their award letters.
These deadlines are used to determine priority application processing:
FAFSA Filing Priority Deadline:
- Incoming First Year Students – May 1, 2018
- Returning Students – March 1, 2018
- Summer 2018 Work Study Applicants – April 1, 2018
- Incoming Students (January 2018 Admit) – December 18, 2017
If funds are available, FAFSA applications received after the above deadlines will be considered for financial assistance.
Important! The Free Application for Federal Student Aid may be filed on or after October 1, 2017 for the 2018-2019 academic year. It is important to complete the FAFSA when you apply for admissions to any degree, diploma, or certificate program at EMCC. Click Here to complete the FAFSA.
