Organized on May 23, 1981
Mission
To include all alumni in activities and events at Eastern Maine
Community College while promoting the College and its mission to provide the
highest quality technical, career, and transfer education and to serve as a
dynamic community resource.
History
One hundred seventy six (176) alumni became charter members of
the newly formed EMVTI Alumni Association on May 23, 1981. the Association
was initiated by a few graduates in conversations with Assistant Dean of
Students, Nathaniel (Nat) Crowley, Jr. The first Alumni Dinner Dance was
held in Maine Hall in the summer of 1981.
In 1982 the second dinner dance was held with a Director's reception hosted by Director and Mrs. Alan Campbell with 150 alumns attending. The Association held a meeting, dinner, and dance following the reception. The group danced to the music of "Coloured Rain" and deemed the event a huge success.
Early alumni organizers included: Mike staples, Electronics; Lloyd Day, Business Management (Distributive Education); David Robbins, Building Construction and EM Dean of Continuing Education; James Pickard Stubbs, Foods Technology; and Alan Stubbs, Building Construction.
A plaque bearing the names of all charter members is on display in the Maine Hall lobby.
