Student Employment – Federal Work Study
Federal Work Study (FWS) is an on-campus employment program. Students receive a bi-weekly paycheck for their actual hours worked. The funds are paid directly to the student via direct deposit. Eligibility for FWS is available on a first-come, first-serve basis to eligible students who answered “yes” to question #28 on the FAFSA. Eligible student’s award letters will state a maximum FWS earnings limit.
Before You Start Working
If you have been awarded FWS and plan to earn this money, you must attend a mandatory student employee orientation session before you begin your job search. Sessions may last for fifty minutes and consist of:
- a complete review of EMCC’s employment rules and regulations,
- distribution of payroll forms, and
- explanation of student work contracts
