Human Services is a new program that will provide students with the knowledge and skills of elementary counseling and interacting with clients and their families. Students will also learn how to engage in professional behaviors such as ethical practices, confidentiality and remaining professionally competent. Upon completion graduates will be able to apply strategies learned in the classroom to support empowerment and choice for clients utilizing formal and informal methods of support in the community. Human Services gives students the tools to analyze and collaborate with team members to develop interventions and support methods to address problems and challenges that may arise. The program has been developed to meet the competencies for the Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician/Community (MHRT/C) certification available through the State of Maine.
