President’s Message To Students Summer 2013
Jul 29, 2013
As I review my calendar, I notice that we are only a month away from the start of another academic year. This is a good time to share some of this summer’s highlights from EMCC. We have hired three full-time faculty members in Culinary, Building Construction, and Chemistry. I look forward to having Jean-Mark, Brad and Sheuli on board this fall to assist students in reaching their educational goals at the College.
Summer sessions are coming down to the last few weeks and we have experienced a 20 percent increase in summer enrollment. This is due in part to offering three defined summer sessions that focused on the following populations: current students, students from other colleges, and graduating high school seniors. EMCC will continue to offer courses with flexibility through the fall semester with new evening and off-campus center programs in Automotive, Medical Assisting, and Early Childhood Education.
There have been significant campus renovations and expansions over the past two months. These projects include a new hospitality/nutrition kitchen, the expansion of labs for the Hospitality Management Program, a re-engineering of the science labs, a new academic advisement suite, a new location for student services, and a new location for Student Counseling Services. We are also putting the finishing touches on the brand new Student Success Center, which should open on August 9.
Finally- EMCC as always is a community focused institution and will be getting out on the Bangor Waterfront this Summer. We’ll be partnering with our friends at KahBang to bring you a Zipline and at the Folk Festival to bring you a first of its kind EMCC Career Imagination Station. Look for me in the bright green EMCC shirt and I will be happy to discuss all the exciting developments to continue our tradition of EMCC being both a great college, and a smart choice.
If you don’t catch me at these community oriented event feel free to contact me at email@example.com anytime.
Enjoy the rest of the summer.
