EMCC Men’s Basketball Ranked #1 in Country
Jan 30, 2012
Eastern Maine Community College has proved to be a powerhouse team in its 3rd year under Head Coach, Steve Rich. The Golden Eagles are #1 in both the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II Rankings with a 16-1 overall record (12-1 conference).
Predicated on defense first, the team is well balanced with a multitude of options. After some strong recruiting by Coach Rich both local and out of state, the team has embraced the challenge on the court and looks forward to controlling their own destiny heading towards the final stretch and postseason play. By holding everyone accountable on and off the court as students first, and as then athletes, Coach Rich has been able to create a successful relationship between time in the classroom and time on the court. Since the beginning of the season, the Golden Eagle student-athletes have excelled in the classroom with the entire team meeting all eligibility requirements for both the fall and spring semesters; which is as much a victory for us as our success on the court.
