Oct 12, 2011
Eastern Maine Community College of Bangor student Nichole Rackliff of Ellsworth will spend a semester abroad as a George J. Mitchell Scholar studying at the University College Cork of the National University of Ireland on the country’s south coast.
Rackliff will spend her time studying agriculture and business management to accompany her business studies at EMMC.
She hopes that in the future she will be able to join Veterinarians Without Borders, an animal aid group.
Rackliff stated in her application essay that “studying abroad will give me experience in another culture that will prepare me for the many different cultures I will work with while volunteering with Veterinarians Without Borders.”
The scholarship covers tuition, books and fees for students, as well as about $900 per semester for living expenses.
