President’s Message to Students December 2013

Dec 4, 2013

December brings the end of the semester and the culmination of hard work from our students, faculty and staff, as well as the start of the Holiday season.  As we enter the final weeks of the semester, you will see expanded hours of service for the Library and the new Student Success Center. Starting the first week of December, the Library will be open until midnight. The Student Success Center will be open until midnight during the week of finals.  My understanding is that this is the first time in the history of the college that we are expanding these services, and I hope all of you will utilize them.

Our academic programs have continued to make great strides this year. The Medical Radiography Department received continuing accreditation by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) until 2017. I also received great news that 95 percent of our recent Nursing graduates passed the national Nursing exams on their first attempt. Congratulations to both departments! I am also optimistic that we will receive positive news regarding our accreditation from the automotive industry in the upcoming days. These types of validations from our accreditors and industry partners indicate the quality of our academic programs, faculty and students at EMCC, and speaks to why so many of our students are choosing Eastern Maine Community College as their first choice college.

As we enter the holiday season and a short academic break, please use this time to re-energize, spend time with family and friends and enjoy a wonderful time of the year.  We at EMCC have a lot to celebrate and be thankful for – especially you, our great students.
