Dual Enrollment

Eastern Maine Community College has many dual enrollment opportunities available for high school students to get a jump on their college education.

Students enrolled in publicly funded high schools located in Maine are permitted to take up to a total of 12 credits annually.  Enrollment in classes at multiple post-secondary institutions during the same term is permitted, as long as the student does not exceed a maximum of 6 credits per semester while utilizing this waiver program.  If funds are available from the State of Maine Department of Education students enroll in summer classes using the waiver.

The students pictured above completed the one-year Small Business Certificate through a dual enrollment program with United Technologies Center (UTC) and walked in EMCC’s commencement ceremony before they had even officially graduated high school. They now have the option to complete an Associate’s Degree in Business Management at EMCC in one year, or go on to another institution with a year of college credits under their belts.

The possibilities of dual enrollment are endless. We suggest you talk to a guidance counselor at either your high school or your local CTE center to learn more. You may also reach out to our Enrollment Center by either emailing admissions@emcc.edu or call 207.974.4680.
