At Northern Light Health, we believe in helping our new graduate nurses transition from academics to professional practice, which is why some of our member organizations participate in a nurse residency program. The 12-month program includes monthly workshops, simulation sessions, group discussions and an evidence-based practice project. Others have a local curriculum to support and develop newly licensed nurses.
The Nurse Residency Program consists of monthly workshops, quarterly simulation experiences and an evidence-based practice project over an 11-monthperiod. The residency program is a commitment of 12 hours per month and is included as one of your scheduled 12 hour work shifts in a 36 hour work week. The program is required for all new graduate nurses, with the goal of assisting the resident with the transition from advanced beginner to competent professional nurse.
Get hired first or get licensed first – you decide!
