Eastern Maine Community College is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for individuals wishing to become Medical Assistants. Through Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan, EMCC will offer a one-year Medical Assisting program to 20 qualified individuals at no cost to the students. Seats are limited and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Filling out this form does not guarantee you a spot in the program, seats are filled on a first-come-first-served basis to qualified candidates who complete registration/application requirements.  We encourage you to join our waitlist to be notified when applications are open for this program!  Our next program begins in September 2022.

The costs associated with the following will be waived for individuals who qualify for the program:

  • tuition
  • fees
  • textbooks
  • criminal background checks
  • one certification exam
  • a stethoscope
  • a set of scrubs

Medical Assistants are multi-skilled allied health professionals specifically trained to work in ambulatory settings such as physician’s offices, clinics, and group practices, performing administrative and clinical procedures. Students are provided with extensive hands-on training in both entry-level and advanced medical assistant competencies in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Medical Assisting. Graduates from the Medical Assistant Technology program are eligible to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification examination upon successful completion of the program.

The Medical Assistant Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
