Surgical Technology

Program Details

The Surgical Technology program through EMCC’s Workforce Development Department is a free, short-term, intensive training, in which students will develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to practice as a certified surgical technologist. This program will be offered at no cost through the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan; all tuition, books, materials, and exam fees will be covered.
Pre-requisite courses required for enrollment in this program include:
  • Anatomy & Physiology I & II with Lab
  • Medical Terminology
  • ENG 101 – College Composition
  • PSY 101 – Intro to Psychology
  • Communications elective
  • Humanities/Social Science elective

There are a limited number of seats available in this program, and completion of this form does not guarantee enrollment. Acceptance into the program will be offered once all pre-enrollment materials are received and pre-requisite credits are confirmed.

Application Requirements:

  • 18 years of age by the start of the course
  • Maine state resident
  • Copy of high school transcript, GED or HiSET, and/or higher education transcript (if applicable for credit transfer review)
  • Pre-requisite course credits
  • Required Immunizations: See Health History Form
