Eastern Maine Community College Announces Certified Nursing Assistant Program for Summer 2018

BANGOR, ME—Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) will offer Certified Nursing Assistant courses during Summer 2018. The 180-hour program will consist of 90 classroom hours and 90 clinical hours (including 20 hours of lab time). Classes take place at EMCC, and clinical work will happen at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Students who complete this course will qualify to sit for state board licensing.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of registered nurses is projected to grow 15 percent between 2016 and 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for healthcare services continues to increase due to aging populations and the continuing need to care for patients with chronic conditions. In 2017, Maine was one of the top five states with the highest concentration of jobs and location quotients in the nursing assistant field.

EMCC’s Certified Nursing Assistant classes begin on Monday, June 25, 2018 and run through the duration of the summer, concluding with the state exam on September 5th. Prospective students can learn more and apply at https://www.emcc.edu/cna.
