“I chose to attend EMCC because of the affordability and closeness to home but more importantly because of the program selection! What I like the most about the school is that the community is really supportive and full of opportunities if you just take them!”
Financial Aid

Did you know? 86% of full-time, first-time degree-seeking students at Eastern Maine Community College receive some sort of financial aid!
The Office of Financial Aid attempts to make our college affordable by providing financial assistance and advice to current and prospective students and parents. While students have the primary responsibility for financing their education, there are Federal, State, and college grants, scholarships, loans, and student employment to assist them. Financial aid is based on the student’s annual completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the availability of funds.
Do not wait for the formal acceptance to EMCC before filing your financial aid application!

2022-2023 Academic Year
Priority FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Filing Deadlines
The Financial Aid Office awards students on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who meet the FAFSA filing deadlines and complete their financial aid files first are the first to receive their award notification.
These deadlines are used to determine priority application processing:
FAFSA Filing Priority Deadline:
- Incoming First-Year Students – May 1, 2022
- Returning Students – April 2, 2022
- Summer 2023 Work Study Applicants – April 1, 2022
- Incoming Students (January 2023 Admit) – November 1, 2022
If funds are available, FAFSA applications received after the above deadlines will be considered for financial assistance.
Important! The Free Application for Federal Student Aid may be filed on or after October 1, 2021 for the 2022-2023 academic year. It is important to complete the FAFSA when you apply for admissions to any degree, diploma, or certificate program at EMCC. Click here to complete the FAFSA.
Beginning in Fall 2020, EMCC requires students to have a personal computer. If you do not have a computer and need help getting one, you may work with financial aid and the business office to make that happen. Check your MyEMCC portal for more information on the basic computing requirements, or contact finaid@emcc.edu with any questions.
The minimum computing requirements are listed on MyEMCC, under Admissions > Once You’ve Been Accepted.
