Financial Aid Process

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first and most important step in applying for financial aid. It is used to determine your eligibility for need-based financial aid and all Federal, state, and EMCC student aid programs. Fill out the FAFSA here.

Ways to file

We encourage students to file the FAFSA electronically and to use the Internal Revenue Service’s Data Retrieval system.

To file electronically, use FAFSA on the web. Remember to include EMCC’s school code (005277) in step six of the FAFSA. This form is free to use and you should never have to pay to complete this federal form, if you are prompted to pay then you are using the wrong form.

If you are unable to file your FAFSA electronically, please call us at 207.974.4625 for instructions on how to file a paper FAFSA form.

EMCC School Code

Our school code is 005277, include our number when you submit the FAFSA so that we are sent the results of your application.

First Time Applicants

First-time FAFSA filers must create a Federal Student Aid ID number.  Go to this page and follow the steps provided for parents and students to create that FSA ID number.

Renewing the FAFSA

If you are a returning student and you filed a FAFSA in the previous years, you may file a renewal FAFSA.

You will need your FSA ID (a user-selected name and password) which allows students and parents to access and electronically sign the online version of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
